VALLEY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT ANNOUNCES NEW BOARD POSITIONS
Richard Franke elected chairman, Tito Resendez elected chairman pro-tem– The Valley International Airport board of directors recently elected Richard Franke as chairman of the board and Tito Resendez as chairman pro-tem. The airport board sets long-range policies and strategies for Valley International Airport, the region’s largest passenger and air cargo facility.
A lifelong resident of the Rio Grande Valley, Franke runs a successful real estate business – Franke Inc. Realtors in South Padre Island – handling brokerage, leasing and development. He is past president of the Padre Island Economic Development Corporation, which is involved in various projects including beach re-nourishment and the second causeway to the island.
“I look forward to working with the board to continue the growth of the finest airport in the Rio Grande Valley and the exceptional air transportation services it provides,” Franke said.
Resendez, the owner of the local State Farm Insurance Agency in Harlingen, has served on the local, state and national levels of many insurance associations, and is currently the Texas delegate of the National Hispanic Agents Network. He is also a cofounder of the Tito and Diana Resendez Foundation, which has awarded its Victory in Academics scholarship to 23 graduating Harlingen area seniors over the last three years, totaling $23 thousand to date.
“The Harlingen Airport Board is committed to supporting aviation development and economic growth to the region,” Harlingen Mayor Chris Boswell said. “Richard Franke and Tito Resendez are excellent assets to the airport board and play a crucial role in continuing to improve Valley International Airport as an independent enterprise.”
The Valley International Airport Board has nine members who serve five-year terms.
